Some ground rules.

These are set and enforced by the sandgropers.social moderators.

  1. Follow the Law
No content or activity that is illegal under Australian law. This includes (but isn't limited to) child sexual abuse material, content that infringes copyright, doxxing, threats of violence, and the sale of illegal goods or services.
  2. No Spam or Manipulation
No bulk unsolicited advertising, bot-driven amplification, scams, phishing, or crypto/MLM schemes. Self-promotion is fine in moderation — flooding feeds or DMs is not.
  3. No Harassment, Threats, or Targeted Abuse
No bullying, stalking, brigading, or sustained targeting of an individual or group. Disagreement and robust debate are fine; campaigns of abuse are not.
  4. No Hate Speech
No content that attacks or demeans people based on race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or similar protected characteristics.
  5. Protect Privacy
Don't post someone else's private information (address, phone number, financial details, etc.) without their consent.
  6. Mark Sensitive Content
Use content warnings (CWs) for NSFW material, graphic content, or major spoilers. Adult content must be tagged as sensitive — no exceptions.
  7. No Impersonation
Don't impersonate another person, business, or organisation in a misleading way. Parody/satire accounts should be clearly labelled.
  8. Authentic Accounts
One person, one set of genuine accounts. No sock-puppeting to evade bans or manipulate discussions.
  9. Respect Moderator Decisions
Moderators act to keep the community functional and lawful. Decisions can be appealed via [contact method], but instructions from mods/admins should be followed in the meantime.
  10. Use Common Sense
These rules cover the essentials, not everything. If something clearly damages the community or puts the instance at legal risk, action may be taken even if it isn't explicitly listed above.
